  • 0.5 cup onion finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup tomato finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup green bell pepper finely chopped (capsicum)
  • 1-2 green chilies finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 0.5 tsp cumin powder
  • 0.25 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp cilantro chopped (coriander leaves)

  • Grated cheese optional, for topping
  • Oil for cooking

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
  4. Add tomatoes and green bell pepper. Cook until tomatoes soften.
  5. Add spices and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add cilantro and garam masala. Mix well.
  7. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  8. Spoon masala mixture onto the buttered side of four bread slices.
  9. Top with grated cheese (optional).
  10. Cover with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  11. Heat a pan or griddle over medium heat.
  12. Toast sandwiches until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  13. Cut the sandwiches in half or diagonally.
  14. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.

Notes
