  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon oregano

Optional toppings
  • as desired shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, jalapeños

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté diced onion for 4–5 minutes, then add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in spices, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, beans, and beef broth. Simmer uncovered for 30–40 minutes until thickened.
  4. Serve hot with optional toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, or jalapeños.
