Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
Cake
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
Butter
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
Nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional
Vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour cherry filling into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle cake mix over the filling, then drizzle melted butter on top.
  4. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts and vanilla extract on top.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This dessert is best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
