Ingredients
  

Oil
  • 0.5 cup oil (vegetable, grapeseed or neutral flavored oil)
Garlic
  • 6-8 cloves fresh garlic, minced
Red chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons red chili flakes or to taste
Dried minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced garlic
Dried chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons dried chopped onion
Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or to taste
Toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt use less if using table salt
Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Cayenne
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne (optional) to taste
Soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce or to taste

Method
 

  1. Mince or slice the garlic to your preferred size.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until lightly golden, about 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning. Stir in chili flakes, dried garlic, onion, sugar, sesame seeds, salt, paprika, cayenne, and soy sauce.
  4. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Cool completely before storing.
  5. Store in a jar and stir well before use.
