Ingredients
  

Main ingredients
  • 1 cup Sichuan Chili Flakes
  • 1 1/4 cups Vegetable Oil
  • 2 pcs Shallots, peeled
  • 4 cloves Garlic, peeled
  • 2 pcs Star Anise, whole
  • 4 pcs Cloves, whole
  • 2 teaspoons Sea Salt
  • 1/4 cup Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds

Method
 

  1. Add shallots, garlic, star anise, cloves, and oil to a pot and heat over medium low for 20 minutes.
  2. Strain the hot oil over chili flakes in a bowl, then discard aromatics.
  3. Stir in sesame seeds, salt, and cooled oil; let cool to room temperature.
  4. Pour into a container and store for use.

Use high-quality chili flakes for best flavor.
