Copycat Wendys Chili Recipe – Just Like the Original

  • 1 pound ground beef browned and drained
  • 3 can (15-ounce) canned kidney beans rinsed and drained
  • 3 can (15-ounce) canned pinto beans rinsed and drained
  • 3 can (15-ounce) canned dark red kidney beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (14.5-ounce) canned diced tomatoes undrained
  • 1 can (8-ounce) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper diced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

Method
 

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot, then drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion and green pepper; sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in beans and diced tomatoes, then add tomato sauce and beef broth.
  4. Add spices and stir well. Simmer for 30-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in white vinegar just before serving. Ladle into bowls and enjoy.

Notes

Adjust spice levels to taste and simmer longer for deeper flavor.
