Ingredients
  

French Toast Casserole
  • 1 loaf bread Brioche or French recommended
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 tbsp orange juice optional
Topping
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp salt
Garnish
  • Maple Syrup
  • Powdered Sugar

Method
 

  1. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Cut or tear bread into cubes and place in a large bowl.
  3. Combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and orange juice in a separate bowl and whisk.
  4. Pour mixture over bread cubes and gently fold.
  5. Transfer to baking dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  7. Prepare brown sugar cinnamon topping by combining melted butter, brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
  8. Spoon topping evenly over casserole and bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
  10. Top with powdered sugar or maple syrup and enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, use challah bread. You can also add berries or chocolate chips to the casserole before baking.
