Method
- Cube the bread and soak in a custard made of eggs, milk, sugars, vanilla, and cinnamon for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a baking dish.
- Pour the soaked bread into the dish and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set.
- Prepare vanilla sauce by melting butter, dissolving sugar, adding cream, simmering, then stirring in vanilla.
- Cool slightly, then serve the bake with vanilla sauce or toppings of choice.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use brioche bread and add dried fruits.
