  • 1 loaf French bread about 14-16 oz, cut into cubes
  • 8 oz Cream cheese cut into small cubes
  • 1.5 cups Fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 8 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk whole milk or 2% works best
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.33 cup Maple syrup
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • a pinch Salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Method
 

  1. Cube the Bread and Cream Cheese. Cut into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Layer It Up. Layer half the bread, cream cheese, and blueberries. Repeat.
  3. Make the Egg Mix. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour and Soak. Pour egg mix over layers. Press down gently. Cover and refrigerate.
  5. Chill Overnight. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  6. Bake to Golden Perfection. Preheat to 350°F. Let sit at room temp 30 minutes, then bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until golden.
  7. Cool and Serve. Let it cool slightly, then slice. Add powdered sugar or maple syrup.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use brioche bread instead of French bread.
