Ingredients
  

Yams
  • 2 cans canned yams (about 15 oz each), drained
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mash drained yams until smooth, then mix in brown sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  3. Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish, top with marshmallows, and pecans if desired.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until marshmallows are golden and casserole is heated through.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or a drizzle of honey before baking.
