Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Decoration
  • Egg-shaped cookie cutter
  • Royal icing various colors
  • Sprinkles optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients; mix until combined.
  6. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Cut out cookies with egg-shaped cutter.
  9. Place cookies on baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden.
  11. Cool cookies on baking sheets, then transfer to a wire rack.
  12. Decorate with royal icing and sprinkles.

Notes

For best results, make sure the butter is properly softened before creaming with the sugar. This will ensure a light and fluffy dough.
