Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 1 loaf challah or brioche bread, cut into cubes
Eggs
  • 6 large eggs
Milk
  • 2 cups milk
Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream
Sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
Nuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional) optional
Powdered Sugar
  • for serving Powdered sugar for dusting
Berries
  • for serving Fresh berries optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch dish.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  3. Add bread cubes to mixture, soak, then pour into dish.
  4. Drizzle maple syrup, sprinkle nuts, cover, and refrigerate 2+ hours.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes until golden and set. Serve warm with powdered sugar and berries.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate overnight before baking.
