  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 Pinch salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted

Method
 

  1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange brioche cubes evenly in the dish.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Pour egg mixture over brioche, ensuring bread is moistened.
  5. Gently press bread to absorb liquid.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  7. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or 4+ hours).
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Remove wrap and bake for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.
  11. Serve warm with toppings.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use challah bread instead of brioche. You can also add a splash of bourbon or rum to the egg mixture for an extra kick.
