  • 4 eggs
  • 1.5 cup milk
  • bread
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar + 3T + additional for sprinkling
  • Vanilla
  • Cinnamon

Method
 

  1. Melt butter, mix with brown sugar, pour into 9x13 pan.
  2. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and brown sugar together.
  3. Layer bread in pan, pour half the custard over bread.
  4. Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar. Add another bread layer, the rest of the custard, and more cinnamon and sugar.
  5. Refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  7. Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.
  8. Slice, let caramel bottom run, bake for 5 more minutes (optional).
  9. Serve with a spatula, flipping so the sugary bottom is on top while hot.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread.
