Method
- Whisk eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Grease baking dish and spread bread evenly.
- Pour custard over bread, pressing down to soak. Refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Let casserole come to room temperature.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncovered for 20–25 minutes until golden.
- Drizzle with melted butter and dust with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm with berries or maple syrup if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use challah or brioche bread. You can also add a streusel topping before baking.
