Ingredients
  

Meat
  • 2 pounds ground beef
Vegetables
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Canned Goods
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
Spices & Liquids
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • to taste Salt and pepper Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
For Serving
  • Shredded cheese, sour cream, and green onions

Method
 

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic; cook until tender.
  3. Stir in beans, tomatoes, spices, salt, pepper, and beef broth. Mix well.
  4. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30-45 minutes.
  5. Serve topped with cheese, sour cream, and green onions if desired.

Notes

For a spicier chili, add hot sauce or cayenne pepper to taste.
