Ingredients
  

Oil and Aromatics
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
Main Protein
  • 2 pounds ground beef
Canned Goods
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons chili seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 27 oz can chili beans (do not drain or rinse)
Toppings
  • to taste Shredded cheddar cheese
  • to taste Chopped onions
  • to taste Sour cream
  • to taste Jalapeños
  • to taste Cilantro
  • to taste Avocado

Method
 

  1. In a Dutch oven, sauté onion in oil for 2 minutes, add garlic and cook 2 more minutes.
  2. Add ground beef, cook until browned, drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, chili seasoning, salt, red pepper; simmer 20 minutes.
  4. Add chili beans, stir, and simmer 10 more minutes.
  5. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
