Method
- Butter an 8x8 or 6x9-inch baking dish.
- Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and add to the pan.
- Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, salt, vanilla, and cinnamon. Mix lightly.
- Pour egg mixture over bread, cover, and refrigerate overnight (or cook now).
- Remove from refrigerator, uncover, and let rest for 15–30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°. Brush with melted butter.
- Mix sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle on top.
- Bake until golden brown and an internal temperature of 165°F—about 40–45 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread. You can also add berries or chocolate chips for extra flavor.
