Ingredients
  

Meat and Beans
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (we recommend 85/15 or 80/20)
  • 15 ounces canned chili beans (or kidney beans)
Vegetables and Seasonings
  • 15 ounces canned diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Toppings and Garnishes
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • sour cream
  • jalapenos
  • diced avocado
  • corn chips (or tortilla chips, crushed)

Method
 

  1. Add ground beef to a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown and break apart the meat.
  2. Carefully soak up excess grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon behind.
  3. Stir in chili beans and diced tomatoes, bring to a boil, then reduce heat.
  4. Stir in cinnamon, simmer for 20 minutes, then serve topped with cheese, sour cream, and fresh toppings.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or chopped onions.
