Method
- Cube stale bread and soak in custard made from eggs, milk, sugars, vanilla, and cinnamon for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a baking dish and pour in the soaked bread mixture.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until set and golden. Cool slightly before serving.
- For vanilla sauce, melt butter, stir in sugar, add cream, simmer until thickened, then stir in vanilla.
Notes
Using day-old bread helps absorb the custard better. Adjust sweetness to taste.
