Wendy’s Chili Recipe

Ingredients
  

olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
vegetables
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 diced green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 pounds ground beef
canned goods
  • 1 28 oz diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 15 oz kidney beans, drained
  • 1 15 oz pinto beans, drained
spices and seasonings
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot and sauté onion, celery, green pepper, and garlic until softened (~5 min).
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, then drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, beans, and spices. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Notes

For a spicier chili, add more cayenne or hot sauce to taste.
